Construction has begun on a new private residence designed by Karl Steiner in a rural landscape outside the city.

The project occupies a gently sloping site surrounded by mature trees. Rather than clearing the site to establish a conventional building footprint, the proposal works around the existing landscape.

The house is organised as a sequence of interconnected volumes surrounding a sheltered courtyard.

Living spaces open towards the southern garden, while bedrooms and private rooms are positioned deeper within the plan. A small studio occupies the quieter northern edge of the property.

The architectural language is intentionally restrained.

Local stone forms the exterior base, while timber, plaster, and exposed concrete establish the material palette inside. Openings are positioned according to views, daylight, and privacy rather than following a repetitive facade system.

The project is expected to be completed in spring 2027.
